SOUTH WEST FAIRY

This fairy is the largest of my sitting sculptures.  She measures 15" tall before being sculpted into her permanent sitting position.   Sitting, she measures 6.5" from her "seat" to the top of her head, and her wings extend to 7.25" from her "seat".  Her body/wing fabric is Laurel Burch's magical horses in shades of rust, olive greens, and grey/blues, with black and gold accents in the pattern. 

The front of the fairy's body has 3 horses heads, and I've outlined them with tiny glass seed beads.  Her hairdo was designed from a beautiful black Italian eyelash yarn which has nubs of color throughout.  She has a braid on the one side, which I accented with Swarovski crystals and seed beads.  She is also wearing a tiny ankle bracelet, and the center back of her wings also have an accent of crystals and beads.

I use a lot of Laurel Burch fabrics in my creations, and was sorry to hear that she passed away in September, 2007.  Her whimsical, colorful designs will truly be missed by all!
